New Blog on Aesthetic Imagination and Security Policy

Below is a link to a new blog that summarises a chapter - titled “Imagination and the Korean Crisis” - I was honoured to write for Andrew Carr’s new book in memory of Brendan Sargeant, one of Australia’s leading security practitioners and strategic thinkers.

I draw on my previous visual autoethnography of Korean security to engage Sargeant’s concept of the strategic imagination.

The book was launched at the ANU on 27 October 2025 and it is available open access here: Andrew Carr (ed), Strategic Imagination: Essays in Honour of Brendan Sargeant (Canberra: ANU Press 2025). Reading the contributions to Andrew’s book makes me realise what an unusual person Brendan was. I regret that I never had the chance to meet him.
