Available to Watch: Gillian Whitlock and Zhila Gholami on Refugees and the Archive
Prof Gillian Whitlock and Dr Zhila Gholami discuss Gillian's new book Refugee Lives in the Archives: A Pacific Imaginary (Bloomsbury 2024) as well as archival work that she and Zhila conducted for different projects at the UQ's Fryer Collection. The session is chaired by Dr Cormac Opdebeeck-Wilson (UQ).
Gillian is Professor Emeritus in the School of Communication and Arts at UQ and the author of several influential books and articles on a wide range of topics, including autobiography, testimonies and life narratives.
Zhila has a Ph.D. from Griffith University, works on diaspora and refugee issues, was the 2024 Fryer Library Fellow and is currently a casual academic at UQ’s School of Communication and Arts.
