New Blog on Ecological Politics in the Korean DMZ

Here is a new blog about my old home Panmunjom and its surroundings: a review of Eleana Kim’s interesting book Making Peace with Nature: Ecological Encounters Along the Korean DMZ (Duke University Press, 2022).

Based on case studies about ponds, avian flyways and landmines, the book highlights the biodiversity created by seven decades of militarisation. The book also challenges anthropocentric approaches to security and peace in Korea.  The print-version of the review is coming out later this year in The Journal of Development Studies.

Here some of my own photographs from the Korean DMZ
