Prof Gillian Whitlock and Dr Zhila Gholami discuss Gillian's new book Refugee Lives in the Archives: A Pacific Imaginary (Bloomsbury 2024) as well as archival work that she and Zhila conducted for different projects at the UQ's Fryer Collection.
Gillian is Professor Emeritus in the School of Communication and Arts at UQ and the author of several influential books and articles on a wide range of topics, including autobiography, testimonies and life narratives.
Zhila has a Ph.D. from Griffith University, works on diaspora and refugee issues, was the 2024 Fryer Library Fellow and is currently a casual academic at UQ’s School of Communication and Arts.
The interview is chaired by Dr Cormac Opdebeeck-Wilson (University of Queensland).
